| Find
the Right Routine for Your Lenses
When you first receive your contact lenses, your eye care professional
will teach you how to care for them. Ask questions (if you have
any) right then, or afterwards – you can always telephone
your eye care professional with questions or concerns about your
eyes and lenses.

Instruction Guide for your type of ACUVUE® Brand Contact
Lenses.
Different types of contact lenses (daily wear, continuous wear,
daily disposable) require different types of care. In general:
Daily wear lenses are
removed at the end of the day. They must be cleaned and disinfected
after removal and stored in a contact lens case when not worn. They
can be rinsed and reapplied only after they have been disinfected.
There are many multi-purpose contact lens solutions that clean and
disinfect in one step, making it quite simple to take care of your
contact lenses. No matter which products you and your eye care professional
choose, you must follow the manufacturer’s instructions exactly.
Continuous wear lenses remain in the eyes, even
while sleeping, for up to six nights. They can be removed, cleaned,
disinfected, and rinsed and reapplied if desired. If they are put
in a case, they must also be cleaned and disinfected (like daily
wear lenses) before they are reapplied. There are also special rewetting
drops that may be used to lubricate continuous wear lenses while
they remain in the eyes. After the prescribed wearing time, extended
wear lenses are discarded and a fresh pair applied.
Daily disposable lenses can be worn for one day,
then discarded and replaced with a fresh pair. They require no cleaning
or storing.
Wear
and Replace Your Lenses on Schedule
When you first receive your contact lenses, your eye care professional
will tell you how long you can wear them, and how often they have
to be replaced. Replacing your lenses on schedule is extremely important
– compliance is intended to keep your eyes comfortable and
healthy. Maintaining a proper replacement schedule will help you
keep your eyes comfortable and healthy.
Generally, ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses are recommended to
be worn and replaced on one of three replacement schedules:
- Daily wear lenses are removed at the end of
every day. They are cleaned and disinfected daily, and are replaced
with a fresh pair about every two weeks.
- Continuous wear lenses remain in the eyes,
even while sleeping, for up to six nights. They are discarded
and replaced with a fresh pair every week.
- Daily disposable lenses can be worn for one
day. They are thrown away and replaced with a fresh, new pair
every day.
TIPS TO KEEP YOU ON SCHEDULE
The easiest way to maintain a schedule is to sign up for ACUMINDER™ to receive convenient reminders to change your contact lenses, purchase new contact lenses, and schedule your annual eye exam with your eye care professional.
If you are not signed up for ACUMINDER™, here are some tips that can help keep you on schedule.
- Always replace your lenses on the same day of the week.
- Many people discard their old lenses on Sunday night and start
with a fresh pair on Monday morning. Others prefer Friday as the
discard day, so they have fresh lenses for the weekend. Choose
whatever day works best with your schedule.
- Use your calendar – paper or electronic – to remind
yourself to replace your lenses.
- When you open up a new box of lenses, write your "fresh
lens" day or date on the individual lens packages.
- Write “Reorder” on your last box of lenses, along
with the telephone number of your eye care professional.
