How does a blue light filter work?

It works by altering the display’s color temperature, reducing blue light wavelengths, and shifting the screen toward warmer tones like yellow or orange.

What is blue light, and why is it harmful?

Blue light is a high-energy visible (HEV) light with short wavelengths. Excessive exposure, especially at night, can cause digital eye strain and disrupt sleep.

Can blue light lenses help with eye strain?

Yes, they can reduce symptoms like dry eyes, headaches, and blurred vision caused by prolonged screen use.

Are blue light lenses good for children?

Yes, children’s eyes absorb more blue light than adults’, so using blue light glasses can help protect them from excessive screen exposure.

Do I need blue light lenses if my screen has a blue light filter?

While screen filters reduce blue light to some extent, blue light glasses provide an additional layer of protection, especially if you use multiple screens.

How do I know if my lenses have a blue light filter?

You can check by shining a blue light onto the lenses; filtered light should appear reduced or slightly yellowish.

Is blue light only emitted by screens?

No, blue light is naturally emitted by the sun and artificial sources like LED lights, TVs, and smartphones.

All ACUVUE® contact lenses have UV Blocking to help provide protection against transmission of harmful UV radiation to the cornea and into the eye. UV absorbing contact lenses are NOT substitutes for protective UV absorbing eyewear such as UV absorbing goggles or sunglasses because they do not completely cover the eye and surrounding area. You should continue to use UV absorbing eyewear as directed by your Eye Care Professional.
